My Workshop: 3D Printing, Laser Engraving and UV Printing

The machines I use for making things, what I have made so far, and the mistake that taught me the most.

I like making physical things as well as software. My workshop is still growing, and I am fairly new to most of it. Here is what I have and how it is going.

The machines

  • 3D printer: a Bambu Lab H2C with four AMS 2 Pro units and an AMS HT
  • Laser engravers: an xTool Omni 01 and an xTool F2 (not the Ultra)
  • UV printer: a eufyMake E1

Managing the printer

I use Bambuddy, a self-hosted app, to control the printer and keep track of filament. It runs on my homelab alongside everything else.

What I have made

My favourite so far is a mahjong tile keychain holder. I am also printing board games and items for my partner's business for the upcoming mahjong release.

The mistake that taught me the most

The worst problem was trying to make items to a specific size without a 3D scanner. Measuring by hand and printing to match was the hard part.

What is next

For laser engraving, I am waiting on a shipment of new wood items to engrave on, which I want to use to build some games. For UV printing, I would like to print directly onto my 3D prints to make them more interesting.
