Unraid NAS and Docker

The storage server in my homelab, which also runs most of my Docker applications.

What it is

NAS1 runs Unraid 7.3.2 and does three jobs: storage, media services and Docker applications. It has an NVIDIA RTX 2070 SUPER for transcoding and some light AI work.

Storage layout

  • Array: five hard drives making up 64TB, with no parity. Everything on it is replaceable.
  • App data: 2TB NVMe
  • Cache: 500GB NVMe
  • Downloads: 2TB NVMe
  • Miscellaneous and models: 500GB NVMe

Why Unraid

It makes a JBOD-style setup simple, and it is mature. I used TrueNAS before and it did not suit what I wanted. I also was not a fan of its use of K3s.

Status

In daily use and still changing as I add and retire containers. There is a longer write-up of the apps I run in my favourite self-hosted applications post.
